Warhammer the Horus Heresy Legion Imperialis Revealed

Games Workshop has unveiled a new way to play Warhammer with Warhammer the Horus Heresy Legion Imperialis

Bringing the scale of Horus Heresy to, a new scale, Legion Imperialis will see two full-scale armies take to the field on a new, smaller scale. Units will fight in attachments, and do battle. The box will either allow you to fight within the box, or as one larger box. This is just the first of many boxes that will come to the new Warhammer Horus Heresy game. These models are described as “epic scale”, meaning you can fight in enormous battles against other players, without losing the detail of models at this scale from the past.

The new set was revealed at the “Not Warhammer 40k Warhammer Preview“, but, we can't help but feel the biggest reveal being 30k, was a bit of a copout. That said, it was a cool reveal, so can we be too mad?

The box that it comes in is just one of many that will be released for the series. Though, this is the “starter box” so expect this to be where the initial value comes from. This new title comes under the Epic Scale tag, most notably used for Epic Armageddon and Aeronautica Imperialis. The starting box will come with 223 miniatures split between Space Marines, Solar Auxilia, and Titans. This works out at 106 Space Marine infantry and walkers, five Space Marine tanks, 104 Solar Auxilia infantry and walkers, six Solar Auxilia tanks, and two Warhound Titans with brand-new plastic weapon options. Crucially, you can just use this box as one giant 223 miniature army, rather than splitting it into two.

The box will contain a rulebook for the game, though this will be available separately outside of the introduction box. You can see full details of everything revealed at the Warhammer Community page, including first looks at all the models included in the box. GW confirmed that more information is coming in the future, as we're left asking ourselves, just how much Warhammer does GW want us all to play?
